Boca Juniors lost 3-1 against Estudiantes in La Plata. This was the third misstep in the Transition Tournament.
From the beginning, Boca was a team without a soul, surrendered on the pitch. On the 4th minute, Joaquín Correa executed a cross shot to the left of the goal, impossible for Agustín Orion. The defensive errors allowed Estudiantes to extend the lead. Diego Vera made an excellent movement and passed the ball over the goalkeeper to score.
To make matters worse, Mariano Echeverría collided with a rival and was wounded on his face. He had to be replaced by Lisandro Magallán.
Before the end of the first half, the local team achieved the third goal. Vera, who was in offside, pirouetted in the air to connect the ball. No Boca player protested, showing that their heads were not on the match.

The second half was just to complete the formalities. Boca had the bulk of the possession, but the team did not hurt Estudiantes. In the last minute, assisted by Luciano Acosta, Jonathan Calleri decorated the result with his goal.
Despite Carlos Bianchi’s intentions, this was his last match as Boca Juniors’ trainer. Daniel Angelici, the president, decided to terminate the contract of the winningest coach in the club’s history.
Boca’s next match will be on August 31th at 6:15 p.m. (Argentina time), against Vélez Sarsfield in “The Bombonera”.
